Marc Arsenault

Business Manager and Secretary-Treasurer

Marc Arsenault is a proud Ironworker, and member of Ironworkers Local 721 out of Toronto, ON, bringing hard work, strategic thinking and determination to every job. Marc was elected to the position of Business Manager and Secretary-Treasurer of the Provincial Building and Construction Trades Council of Ontario at the 2021 Annual General Convention and re-elected in 2024. The Council represents 15 construction craft unions and over 150,000 skilled trades workers across the province.

 

Prior to being elected, Marc served as the Director of Stakeholder Relations with Ontario’s Ironworkers District Council, where he used his 25 years of experience to form collaborative partnerships with purchasers of construction services, contractors, Ironworker Training Centres, and provincial and federal governments. Marc recognizes the value of strong partnerships and played a key role in the creation of the Apprenticeship Enhancement Fund (AEF), by bringing together partners from the private sector, labour, community, and government to help improve Union Training Centres across Ontario. Marc is a strong advocate of working with not-for-profit community groups and supports implementing Workforce Development Agreements at all levels of government.

 

Marc currently serves on several boards including Chair of the Board of Directors for DeNovo Treatment Centre, the Ontario Construction Secretariat, BuildForce Canada, Multi-Employer Benefit Plan Council of Canada, and Helmets to Hardhats Canada. He is a member of the Provincial Labour and Management Health and Safety Section 21 Committee, Vice President of the Chestnut Park Accords, as well as serving on the City of Toronto Community Benefits Advisory Group, Bruce Power Advisory Panel and the Canadian Workers Nuclear Council.

 

Marc has recently completed York University’s professional certificate program in Dispute Resolution and continues to provide construction subject matter expertise to municipal and provincial governments to strengthen social procurement programs and advocate for health, safety and registered apprenticeship training.

 

Outside of his professional and advocacy work, Marc volunteers coaching youth baseball, currently coaching for the Etobicoke Women’s Softball Association.
