ONTARIO BUILDING TRADES NAMED ON BRUCE POWER'S ADVISORY PANEL

TORONTO, November 22, 2023 - Today, the Provincial Building and Construction Trades Council of Ontario (PBCTCO) released the following statement in response to Bruce Power's press release :


"The Provincial Building and Construction Trades Council of Ontario (PBCTCO) are pleased to partner with Bruce Power as a member of their newly announced Advisory Panel to review the critical areas of economic development and partnerships, supply chain and workforce in the long-term outlook for Ontario’s nuclear sector. The Building Trades know that nuclear power is an essential part of the energy mix to meet Ontario’s long-term plans to grow the economy, create jobs, and achieve its net-zero goals. Our workforce has the understanding of the industry, and the specialized skillsets necessary to play a key role on the broader Bruce Power Site development including the existing 8-Unit operation, life extension/refurbishment, Project 2030 and potential new nuclear development. We’ve had a long-established partnership with Bruce Power and the Building Trades are strong proponents of the nuclear industry from our shared commitment to safety, apprenticeship training, and the diversification of the construction workforce through promoting diversity and inclusion for everyone."
