Statement on the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation and Orange Shirt Day

Today, the Provincial Building and Construction Trades Council of Ontario released the following statement from Business Manager Marc Arsenault:
“On the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, we honour the children who never returned home from residential schools, the Survivors, and their families and communities. On Orange Shirt Day, we affirm that Every Child Matters.
Reconciliation requires us to listen, learn and act throughout the year. Ontario’s Building Trades are committed to working with Indigenous communities to make our industry safer and more welcoming, and to support meaningful pathways into the skilled trades for Indigenous youth.
Today, we reflect on the truth of residential schools and recommit ourselves to the work ahead.”
